DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING: My focus as a developmental editor and writing coach is on helping nonfiction writers become successfully published authors, with a particular focus on marketable book-proposal development. If you have a book idea, I work with clients to develop that idea into a book proposal and can assist in understanding how the agent and advance book-contract process works in trade publishing. I have a particular interest and expertise in working with academics looking to transition into writing for larger general audiences, but I can work with any writer who is serious about publishing a nonfiction title. I do not work with fiction.

 

I occasionally take on projects in dissertation editing and coaching (but not ghostwriting) for doctoral candidates struggling to complete their project. 

 

I also work with authors, institutions, and companies on grant writing (including technical and scientific), brand storytelling, narrative development, and I occasionally take on ghostwriting projects. I have a particular background in working with luxury brand storytelling and with the wine and spirits industry.

FEES: my basic fee structure is $75 USD / $100 CAD (payable in either currency) per hour. Where clients prefer that projects be contracted on a per-word or per-project basis, I am happy to provide a quote once I understand the nature of your needs and project. Please reach out to discuss. SELF-DIRECTED RETREATS: Some clients find that a self-directed retreat, where they work from a hotel room locally for a limited period and meet with me daily in person for two-hours each morning is productive and cost effective.
